WDPA/Protected Planet
The World Database on Protected Areas is the only global inventory of protected areas. Information is provided to the WDPA from National governments, NGOs, International conventions and regional Partners. It is managed and developed through collaboration between UNEP-WCMC and IUCN.
Protectedplanet.net is the new face of the World Database on Protected Areas (WDPA), it is a tool for visualizing, mapping and contributing to information on protected areas. Protected Planet brings together spatial data, descriptive information and images from the World Database on Protected Areas, the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), WikipediaTM, PanaramioTM, FlickrTM, and Google MapsTM.
