Designed exclusively for the Proteus Partnership in response to needs for a simple, online interface with biodiversity data – myPolygon provides rapid analysis of how polygons overlap with protected areas and other biodiversity data.

Simple access to data Easy to use features
The tool has been designed to be available to users with no GIS technical expertise or software. Allowing you to compare a polygon with data layers, showing the percentage of your polygon which overlaps with:

  1. Protected Areas
  2. Coral Reefs
  3. Mangroves
  4. Sea grasses – COMING SOON

It also provides an estimate for the amount of soil and surface carbon found in the polygon

  • Google maps base layer
  • Users can draw polygons on a map
  • Users can upload their own shapefiles in a zipped file using WGS84 projection
  • Users can choose different layers to analyse against their shapefiles
  • Links to protectedplanet.net – the interface with the World Database on Protected Areas, the authoritative source for protected areas data
  • Simple guidance for users has been incorporated into the site
  • Report download function – providing a csv file for your polygon
